That is my fear to one time or another force a usb cable upside down into a device perhaps while in a semi-sleepy state. The times I have tried to "manage " to connect a usb cable is when I realize that it's upside down. At first I used a visual approach and think of a "pyramid" when I connect a usb cord with the long end aligned with the bottom of the device and the narrow end at the top (screen) side of device. But lately I switched to the "braille" approach where I feel for the "bumps" on the metallic part of the usb connector which correlates bottom of the device and the smooth part of the usb connector which correlates to the top. Eventually, I plan on just putting a colored piece of tape to indicate which is the top and bottom of the usb cable.
