If you had title_sort (or author_sort) in the template you might have fallen into the same rabbit hole as me:

In one of my libraries I make frequent use of the Copy and Paste metadata feature. When I did a lazy search for "Riyadh" I got some spurious results, books I didn't expect to see. I couldn't see a "Riyadh" in the result list for love or money. It was only when I opened MDE on one of the spurious results that I realised I had neglected to put title_sort into the column exclusion tweak.

Easy to fix - Quality Check to find 'em, bulk metadata edit to fix 'em and add title_sort to tweak.
