Goals:
  • read at least 75 books
  • at least 12 of which from my TBR list
  • at least 5 of which from my started-not-finished list
  • finish reading the Discworld books
  • re-read some of my favourites
  • discover a new favourite author
  • read 9 of 12 of the New Leaf Book Club choices

Books

January - 5 books
Spoiler:

1. Star Trap, Simon Brett - 7/10 - a light 'cozy' mystery to start the year.
2. The '86 Fix, Keith A. Pearson - 5/10 - time travel comedy. Writing was flat, not my sense of humour and ends on a set up for book 2. I hate that.
3. The Left Hand of Darkness, Ursula K. LeGuin - 5/10 - found it a slog. Too much made up language and endless descriptions of snow and ice.
4. Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata (tr. Ginny Tapley Takemori) - 7/10 - Novella about unconventional woman trying to conform. Fascinating.
5. Hotel Silence by Auður Ava Ólafsdóttir - 8/10 - a "quiet" book about a man finding himself in the midst of a country rebuilding after war. Affecting.

February: 1 book
Spoiler:

6. Bad Blood by John Carreyrou - 8/10 - story of Silicon Valley startup that went badly wrong.

Total: 6
