All of these authors would have been in the public domain in the US and elsewhere by now had they not retroactively lengthened the copyright term after their deaths. Of course, nothing "promotes the progress of science and useful arts" (to use the phrase from the US constitution) more than increasing the copyright term after they're dead.
Australia won't see any new public domain works for another 7 years, and 2019 will probably be the last year Canada will see new public domain works for the next two decades.
