The book is rated very good at Amazon.
It's a definite buy for me.
The publisher (an imprint of another publisher) seems to be "spiritually" (New Age kind of)-oriented. So, that orientation may come out in the book. Just letting you know in case that is offensive to readers of your post.
Personally speaking, I've long had a fascination with the AT. Not enough fascination to actually walk it all, but fascinated by the prospect.
Wikipedia has a (long)
list of long-distance trails in the U.S. I was surprised to find out that the A.T. is surpassed in length by a good handful of other trails!
Here in Florida, we have the long Florida Trail. It is "only" 1,000 miles long, but 300 more miles are planned. My advice: skip most of it. All that you'll see will be Palmetto bushes (gazillions and gazillions of them) and snakes (mostly there are just lots of harmless racer snakes in the northeast part of the trail). Oh, and sand. Lots and lots of sand.
There will probably be a knock at my door in the middle of the night with armed thugs from the Florida Department of Tourism, wanting me to go with them . . . .
