Of course not. Word is from Microsoft. Cross-links require manual refresh. But they
do refresh correctly, or always have for me for many years.
Note that regenerating cross-links in footnotes/endnotes requires Ctrl-A and F9 in the footnotes/endnotes. Just doing that in the main text will leave all references unchanged.
