Goodness knows I've seen plenty of posts on MacRumors' iPad forums with complaints and pictures of backlight bleed (on an all white background in order to find and highlight the defect) or some such that's barely visible in the photo much less during normal usage.
Note, I don't actually have any skin in this game. My only Kobos are the Aura HD and Glo HD neither of which get much use as I find the Paperwhite more comfortable to hold.

all reasonable points well made as far i'm concerned. regarding the Kobo devices i've mentioned in this thread i'm very grateful to the owners of those ereaders for taking the time out to inform all of us that there are definitely some hopefully not all that do suffer with various quality control issues.
i for one i'm very glad they do because in my opinion they saved me a lot of possible hassle/money
the only skin i have in this game to use your expression is i very much hope the poor quality issues Kobo are having with some models is resolved sooner rather than later.
