a quick search of the various Kobo ereaders KA1, Clara HD and the Forma will soon find the issues/problems for you or anyone else for that matter.

Occasional defects are inevitable with devices manufactured en masse. If you search for the Kobo Aura, H2O2, Nook, Kindle, etc, I'm sure you'll find complaints, too. The question is how widespread is the issue and what's the return policy of the manufacturer/store.
Also, in general, more people are more likely to post online in order to complain while those happy with their purchases rarely leave feedback.
Goodness knows I've seen plenty of posts on MacRumors' iPad forums with complaints and pictures of backlight bleed (on an all white background in order to find and highlight the defect) or some such that's barely visible in the photo much less during normal usage.
Note, I don't actually have any skin in this game. My only Kobos are the Aura HD and Glo HD neither of which get much use as I find the Paperwhite more comfortable to hold.
