if the power light comes on, you should have power

if the screen does not change - it could be a bad sd card

it could be the screen cable became loose

it could be ... the fragile eink screen is broke while you switch the battery :-(

-- those batteries are replaceable, but usually also glued in, can be hard to remove, and has to be done ever so carefully with a great deal of patience, as the glass display underneath can't take any stress --

the thing is, if the device boots at all, screen clearing is one of the first thing that happens

if the device had wifi enabled, and you didn't factory reset, you could check if it's visible to your wifi router. if it's there but the screen doesn't update it's a screen issue unfortunately. same if you see a PC connection when hitting the "Connect" button blindly after connecting PC-USB cable.

More difficult to get it to connect after factory reset... (language select and then maybe you're stuck in the wifi selection dialog you can't see)
