Nothing really new this year, but I decided that "home automation" might be mature enough by now to give Alexa/Echo a real try. Previous attempts at Alexa on a tablet were failures. The Alexa app on my phone actually seems not too awful at least.
Jumped in and ordered 2 Dots and Smartplugs. Unpacked one pair yesterday and, so far, it looks like it will work for simple light controls and scheduling. I'll probably still bluetooth from my phone for music instead of stream though.
Oh, I did also order a Roku to replace my old slow Fire stick, but Amazon lost the package. Their way of getting back at me for ordering a Roku instead of another Fire stick?
