My first KOA2 was once left outside overnight. It was dropped on a lawn that was already covered in snow. Additionally heavy snow fall covered the kindle so I was unable to find it. The temperatures dropped to about -15°C.
After about 2 or 3 days a friend found it and returned it to me. After warming it up for about 10 minutes I decided to switch it on. The device worked perfectly well.
I think the device complained that the LEDs will not switch on due to the temperature. But that issue went away after I took the device inside for about an hour.
