I like ikea. But I haven't had as bad of an experience as y'all, and I suspect that is because the experiences we've had reflect our respective national cultures.

We're used to big box retailers in the US, and most people have a car. I guess ikea just fits in US culture better than Europe. I wish I'd had an ikea store nearby when I got my first apartment. I'd have furnished the entire apartment there.
