Hi there
I have here a Paperwhite DP75sdi (6th gen Paperwhite 2013) which is impossible to turn on.
When connected to my debian-system it says:
Quote:
usb 5-1.2: new low-speed USB device number 36 using xhci_hcd
usb 5-1.2: New USB device found, idVendor=1949, idProduct=dead
usb 5-1.2: New USB device strings: Mfr=0, Product=1, SerialNumber=0
usb 5-1.2: Product: USB Charger

The buzz-word seems to be
idProduct=dead, which indicates a broken battery. So I opened the device to get the battery.
The battery however haves 2.8V.
I am mechanical engineer, but no electronics specialist.
Does it mean the battery is ok and something else is broken? Or do I have to replace the battery?
Thank you
