The shape of the Forma makes it very easy to hold. The button side is a nice wide section to hold in one hand. I found I was normally holding it in my left hand with my thumb over the bottom button. Page forward was easy (when I remembered to press the button rather than tapping the other side of the screen) and page backwards was just tapping the edge of the screen with my thumb.

I lie on my side to read in bed, the shape of the Forma along with the button position would be very annoying,

Same here and I found it comfortable.

I do love how light it is for the size. I also love to put it in my handbag, going bigger will make that not practical.

My wife has the Forma to try and that was the practically the first thing she tried. Here current handbag is fairly compact, and it fit well. But, I suspect she would have used it as an excuse for some shopping if it hadn't.

I will go and check out both the big ones in person.

Unfortunately, no-one has the Forma in stores. Unless you know someone with one, you probably can't try before you buy.

I can directly download to any of these Kobo models using overdrive in the Australian public library system?

If the library uses Overdrive, you should be able to. It does need the library to be signed up, but I suspect that all libraries using OD have.
I have attached two photos of my Aura H2O. One uses the "Large print mode" and the other the normal. They should give an idea of the differences in the size of the interface.
