I think the H2O 2nd edition was a cost reduction (no SD card slot), it then had a second version. Nothing wrong with original H2O.
Kobo do seem to have a problem producing bug free software and enhancements that people actually want, however while Kindle is maybe better for general use, the way I use annotations with the Kobo H2O and Calibre means I use it for all my proof reading.
