First, the weather forecast was for three to five inches of snow. Last night they downgraded it to one to three inches of snow. When I went out at 4:30 we had seven inches of snow. Our dead end hadn't been plowed, which isn't that unusual, but the town road we intersect with hadn't been plowed, either. Most other roads were disasters with deep snow, slush, accidents, and cars that had skidded into ditches.
My usual 15 minute ride turned into an hour and fifteen minutes. Plus the ride back. White knuckles all the way.
I'll have to make the same trip later tonight. Usually I leave at 9:00, but tonight I think I'll leave at 8:00.
The roads should actually be better. The plows are out, the temps are rising (slightly) and the snow has changed to sleet on its way to rain.
