I think the reason peeps on MR are maybe more sensitive to issues with ereaders is that we tend to have other ereaders for comparison. For example, I tried reading on the Clara this afternoon in order to convince myself that there isn't really a problem, it's just me. But the lighting down the sides and in the bottom corners started to annoy me so much that I switched to the same book on my Paperwhite. Such a relief! I was reading a free Smashwords book, Nano for the New and Insane, which I'd downloaded in both mobi and epub.

Yes, I remember hearing of all the complaints about the first Paperwhite; I was still happily using my old Sony prs 505 back then. Maybe in the future, ereaders with blue light reduction will be more successful, just as frontlit readers are now.

What really puzzles me: why don't they do the tape fix at the factory? It appears to solve the issue for those brave enough to try it; likewise the marker fix.
