I still have, and use, my DX. While I do lots of reading on my other flavors of kindles the DX is still a good size, especially non-fiction or converted scanned docs. I've been tempted by some of the non-Amazon larger e-ink devices, but haven't moved outside of the Amazon universe yet.
If an updated version of the DX came out, I'd buy it, so add me into that niche buying group.
