If by "restore" you mean that you installed KBStartMenu_09_restore.zip, then there is no need for Update2. To the main problem. I understand that after you select "start nickel", you see the kobo animation and after some time the kobo/nickel home. The device does however not react to touch input. Is this correct?

You might look in .kobo whether there are some error log files.
Your last words, this is exactly what by me happen. Just i click on start nickel and see the kobo animation but when click on the screen nothing happens and some screen flashes 1 seconds and i think i see the KSM menu, but after that nothing happens.

However the problem is solved I have removed all of the Books which i have transferred via FTP download and removed any Folder on the root which i have putted the Books. After that nickel is started correctly.
