I have had two periods of unemployment-forced austerity in my life. And I am honestly very grateful for both of them as they really helped me in the "need/want/must have now" department. Buying two massive (and not cheap as they came via my independent bookseller) hardcovers this week was a real pleasure for me. When I was a kid, buying a book was an event, and I actually really love that it has become that way again.

But, much in the same way, the library was a hard and fast weekly routine. And now I have a much better library to use than when I was a kid.
