DG, I did wonder if perhaps that was a Driver's License photo. It had a certain "institutional" quality about it, and they can make anyone look terrible (and unrecognizable). (I was working on a short story once in which a frustrated expert photographer working in the DMV was using his skills for EEEeeevill....)
I think I heard about that other story, though.
