When you say pattern do you mean texture or actual lines? The capacitive grid I am talking about are faint lines like a piece of grid paper...often at a 45deg angle. They are often very hard to see but are there as part of the "touch" layer. You can see these on some tablet and other touch screen laptops as well when they are turned off, but its not so common any more. I am not talking about grain or texture in the surface.
