It's a long while since I last read it. My memory of it is: It's a perfectly good mystery (of it's time), but Milne's naturally lighter tone might make you think he isn't taking it seriously. He is, it's well constructed, it's just his writing always seems (to me) like he's enjoying himself as he writes.
I read Beasts and Superbeasts for the Lit Club. I don’t remember much, but I gave it 4 stars on Goodreads so I must’ve enjoyed the stories. I would definitely be interested in Milne regardless of whether it is Winnie-the-Pooh or something else. I recently watched the movie Goodbye Christopher Robin about Winnie-the-Pooh’s creation, and I picked up an audiobook version of Pooh that I haven’t listened to yet. I have fond memories of Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends from childhood.
