the detection is the complicated/costly part, checking for two previously detected patterns (already happening as it checks both sleep and poweroff state) is simple in comparison
if the existing scanline detection already works for landscape mode, it would be an easy addition; if I have to come up with a new detection routine for landscape mode that would be more complicated
