It's a well known property of the A1, and was even reflected in Kobo's own specifications back when they used to estimate device time in number of weeks based on 30 mins per day use.. Your the only outsider really making a claim to the contrary.
Whether or not the shorter battery life is an 'issue' is an entirely different matter. As many have said, 15 - 20 hours is more than long enough to get the job done,, and if you aren't stopping for at least 1 shower break in that timeframe, that's probably a bigger issue.
