I fetched my pre-ordered Forma from Fnac (in Paris) yesterday evening - Kobo delivered one day late. I'm still loading my 4000 books, but I've started using it and am very pleased.
I haven't yet applied patches, but the screen quality is such that I can do without the fonts one; it is much better than the 3 successive Ones I've gone through.
I've read the comments about the "defective" screen, but I don't agree: all the ereaders I know had some sort of halo (often cones) along the leds side but Forma's doesn't bother me. I prefer the even side-line to cones and it is very faint, if even noticeable, in my normal reading conditions (I never read in total darkness). Anyway, it isn't more noticeable than the shadow from the slightly raised bevels in the other Kobos I've used these past years, and the build of Forma means there are no bevels to cast shadows. In most paper books I've read, there is also some shadowing along the central parting. It might be annoying for full-screen readers, but I want margins, header and footer (I hate mass market paperbacks with next to no margins).
I've tried a couple of PDFs, and it is much more pleasant than it ever was, and I will be able to read books I'd given up on with the One. The landscape mode didn't work as described here, but my sample is very small. I did use the landscape mode on a very specific kepub where it is much better than portrait.
PS: I had brought the One to Fnac for recycling since I was going there and was pleasantly surprised when they gave me a 66€ coupon to be used in their shops within a year.
