Would it help to make a list of tasks with priorities built in?
Then, if it's utterly unmanageable, you could ask your line manager which should be put on hold, if he/she can't arrange for extra help.
I've been to the garden centre to buy a new stone bird bath. A very fat squirrel jumped heavily down on the old one, and toppled the basin, which smashed. I don't like squirrels.
