Well I did nominate Money by Martin Amis, just too late.

I had also considered Gone Girl, but actually there is something about Flynn's books that I find vaguely unpleasant - perhaps that her characters have few if any redeeming qualities.

I also love The Wasp Factory by Iain Banks, but that's a really polarising book. Some people (like myself, who has a personalised signed copy from the great man himself) love it, others really dislike it.
