Huh. The experience of reading when I suddenly realize that I've been reading for paragraphs or even pages and taken in
not a thing happens to me all the time. I can zone out visually as well as audially. Admittedly, it's easier to go back to where I lost the thread when reading, but otherwise I don't see the difference.
