The only time my bank ever called me was for my debit card. It was not lost (I still had the physical card) but apparently someone had cloned it or something, and they were trying to use it at a Walmart in a town a couple hours away. It seems like our bank only triggers a warning after we have told them we are doing something unusual.
We are going out of country next year for vacation and called to let them know we would be booking a hotel in that other country and not to flag it. "Ok, you're good to go." Then we got the declined message anyway. Cost us almost $300 since the place we were booking filled up before we could get them to clear it.
