Again, I think a lot more emphasis is put on this here than really exists. Again, I've had to teach people about the dictionary in their ereaders. And most thought "handy" but didn't expect to use it. And I have reminded some of these people about it at other times.

But, I do agree that Kobo should have a better dictionary available. The last time I looked, they appeared to be using the free Merriam-Webster electronic dictionary. So, the choice was probably about keeping the cost down. An option to buy a better one for those who need it would be good.
I read the same book on my smartphone, ipad and kindle all the time. When I'm away from home, I'm using my smartphone to read the book; at work, I'm using my kindle I leave in my office at work; and at home I read on either another kindle or my ipad, depending on the type of book I'm reading (non-fiction tends to be better on the ipad for me). So yes, there are people that use multiple devices to read ebooks. And the syncing is very much needed for sideloaded books for me.

Edit: desired rather than needed. . Syncing is nice but not "needed", so I'll amend that.
