DesertGrandma, I just asked the Muffin Man the hypothetical question about inviting a friend from here to stay the night, and he expressed very similar reservations to DesertGrandpa's. He could fully understand that I'd want to get together at a cafe or something with a guest from out of town, but was reluctant to have a relative stranger in the house. He suggested that we would be hospitable by recommending good, but inexpensive hotels in the area, in addition to a nice welcoming dinner... elsewhere.
Granted the Muffin Man isn't the most sociable, but he has a very kind heart, so I think if he's saying the same as DesertGrandpa, you can stop worrying.
