This might be due to Canadian government protection of a Canadian company. I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised.

As far as US pricing, I was hoping for something a little more competitive. But $10 more for a larger screen, night light, and what looks to me like a more comfortable design isn't bad. Obviously ymmv.
