More money chasing the goods means higher prices. That's what they tell us in economics class anyway. I suspect part of it may also be tariffs and they've got the populace used to paying more for everything.
It's like how the publishers get us to pay more for hardcover books than paperbacks when, in quantity, they cost almost the same to make and ship.

What hasn't been factored in by those who sell their products at higher prices here than a lot of other countries, is that we have a very high shopping abroad ratio, and government approval to bypass geo fences.
So, that evens things out, but the big companies still persist in trying it on
