As of one week ago it now drains immediately after charging. I'll charge it to 99% (never goes to 100%) and then upon unplugging its at 70%. Then down to 50%. Hovers at 50%, then drains more. If i don't power down, its dead by morning.
I tried the paperclip reset, didn't help. Is this just a case of an old device and I need a new one or is this one salvageable? Can I replace the battery if the battery is dead? I HATE landfilling something useful but as this is my travelling book, I need something reliable.
Thanks for any help.

firstly i would go back to one of the older firmwares when you knew the battery was ok. if the battery problem still exists then maybe you do need to replace it.
good luck sorting it out.
