I sympathise - I struggled through it.
The film is better than the book.
Imho, it would have been much better if there had been fewer lengthy (tedious) passages about the life of whales and sea life generally.
I do not like it when people say they read it and enjoyed it -and then you ask them about the boring bits, and they tell you they
skipped those parts - Oh, I'm sorry, I thought you said you'd read it -

If I digested every single word then so should everyone else!
