Shudder! Fortunately, I never went there. But there was the Portuguese (white, rose?) that came in a weird bottle, and then there was my Anjou Rose period...
OTOH, I remember buying several cases of 1961 and 1963 Premier Gran Cru Bourdeaux, including Lafite, Latour, and Margaux. Not that I really understood what they were in real terms, though I did manage to hang on to them for nearly 10 years, until the mid-70s, so by the end they were starting to get into the range where they were actually coming into their own.
