Boyle, Jack: Boston Blackie (1919) v1

Jack Boyle (1881-1928) is best known for his creation, hero-crook "Boston Blackie". Boyle himself is elusive. He is known to have done time in San Quentin and one other California prison, for bouncing cheques.

The "Boston Blackie" story begins in 1910, with the short story "The Price of Principle" in the July issue of "The American Magazine", and continued through stories in "Red Book", and "The Strand Magazine", ending in the December 1920 issue of "Cosmpolitan".

In 1919 Boyle fixed up a number of the stories into this episodic novel, published under the simple title "Boston Blackie" by H K Fly, New York.

The magazine stories modified to make the novel, and the few subsequently published, have not, so far as I can find out, been collected published in their original form.

The cover is from the 1919 H K Fly hardback, which had an embossed and printed cover as well as a dust jacket.
