None of this has change recently. Anything you found posted in the last four years is probably correct. And if I responded, it was either correct or I corrected it.

I have a Kobo Aura One, recently switched from a Kindle, so I'm working on getting my library converted from Kindle format to Epub so I can read them on my new Kobo.

1. I have some DRM'ed books that I bought from the Kobo store, which I'd like to keep and be able to convert in Calibre, but I haven't figured out how to do that. I need to be able to do both Kobo books and Kindle books, since I still buy from both stores.
You need to look for the DRM tools from Apprentice Alf. Instructions for there use are on the site you can get it from.

2. Is there a way to have the series info show up on that line below the book title on the Kobo like it does when you buy a book directly from the Kobo store? I could only find one instruction that talked about how to do that, but it was several years old and sounded like it might mess up the Kobo device. I definitely don't want something that involves adding code which may screw up the function of my Kobo reader.
I'd be interested in seeing those instructions. I can't think of anything that would be this dangerous unless you found some instructions for directly updating the database on the device.

Unless you have been fiddling with options, the series info should already be being sent to the Kobo device. But, it does get sent the next time you connect the device. This thread has the details.
