Wallace, Edgar: Terror Keep (1927): v.1.

Originally a magazine serial, then an H&S book. German translation "John Flack".

John Flack, crazed former master criminal, escapes from Broadmoor, and launches an attack on Mr J G Reeder, who put him away years ago. Other forces are at work, too, such as those who took over elements of his former criminal enterprises.

And Margaret Belman, J G Reeder's neighbour and special friend, becomes Flack's lever to revenge himself upon Reeder.
