The back of the Clara is hard smooth plastic (=no grip), with lots of little perforated circles / holes (less surface area = less friction = even less grip). I really don't understand the design of the back (what happened to the velvety of rubbery backs of previous devices?). But I suppose how slippery it (the Clara's back) is depends on your hands. Greasy or sweaty? No problem. Dry and crackly? You'll keep dropping the Clara on your face / the settee [if you read on your back / your side].
