That sounds like a long standing problem I have seen with selecting text. It mostly seems to happen when trying to select from the end of the line towards the start. Occasionally it happens when I'm swiping to turn the page. I don't know if there is anything else triggering it and it doesn't happen consistently. It does seem to be a bit less in the recent firmware.

I haven't seen any issues like this. There was one firmware version about a year ago that had problems like this, but Kobo quickly withdrew this and fixed it.

I believe the first one is a firmware problem that Kobo may fix. The other I don't know about.
