Honestly, I think it is sales that truly rule our addiction, not to mention the lack of space ebooks take up. There is no way I'd have 50 unread books, much less over 1000 if they were taking up space in my bookshelf.

I missed out on a couple of Audible big sale purchases because I didn't complete the order. When I noticed today that I had a couple of items in my cart, I realized they went back to full price. As neither of these books were part of series currently being read, I lucked out. This is good. I shouldn't be buying ANY books while I still have a credit card balance. I have plenty to read and no excuse.
