Ununtu 18.04 Changes Behavior

I just upgraded from Ubuntu 16.04 to 18.04, and there is a change in Calibre's behaviour:

--In the editor, if you have a completion dialogue, like a search result, the background greys out, and you can't reposition the dialogue window. The grey background comes and goes with an unpleasant flicker.

--On the main book view panel, opening the Edit Metadata window does the same thing. Opening Book Details or View does not do it.

This isn't just cosmetic, because often I want to move the smaller window around to see a result underneath it, or check something in the main window.

(Other applications, e.g. LibreOffice, do not show anything like this behaviour.)

Is there possibly a setting I'm missing that could fix this? Or is it something new?

Thanks
