that tablet is so old, you have no change of running modern apps like chrome, even sideloaded. it is running the equivalent of android 4.0, and android is at 8 now!
but there may be other options in Amazon store , or sideloadable that do still work, if you don't like the silk browser, or if you don't like the lack of a full screen browser experience
But I am not aware of any sites that Silk specifically cannot open yet other android browsers can - care to name some ?
I do know of apps that will not run on that old device: e.g. ebay, BBC i player, dropbox but not of any sites that do not open. You could try deleting the silk browser cache in case that is messed up and causing issues
My recommendation is Get a current gen amazon tablet instead, cheap and hassle free, and dead easy to add google play store & apps
