Always with a case. Always a folio-style case that opens like a book and protects the corners and the screen. Usually, the case goes in a zippered pouch when taken out of the house, too, to make sure the case doesn't accidentally open. Yes, it adds bulk. But the Fintie slim cases don't add that much bulk.

I've done this for all of them: 3 Kobo's, 2 nooks, 2 kindles that the family uses or have used. Actually, all the phones and iPads and tablets in the house have cases too. It's like a bike helmet: no one rides a bike in this house without a helmet.
