OK, I'm going to start by seconding what Harry said. I've said this elsewhere on this forum, but for me its like saying you aren't going to get a laptop because you heard that there is a faster, cheaper, more battery efficient laptop in six months. If you follow this reasoning you would never buy a laptop because there is always a better one around the corner.

I think the CyBook is a good choice. I had one (the first generation of the Gen III) from the initial release. I think there bold font and user replaceable fonts made them one of the most readable on the market.

For me, I somewhat agree with your comment on the corner button. Its not so much the repetitive stress issue. Its that, if you try to hold it one-handed, you find yourself pinching the corner to hold this device. However, I think this is a problem with all of the current generation devices. They all go for thin frames. With buttons on the sides you find yourself pinching the thin frame to hold the entire device. In one thread here we talked about the old rca/rocketbook as being one of the most comfortable to hold. It has a meaty handle you can get ahold of. Of course, the reader is quite old now, and its not one I would recommend as a new purchase these days.

On the Cybook, however, I don't find all perfect about it. There were some issues with the page turn on clicking on the device. They had a software update or two that improved it for some, but not for all. I haven't kept close watch since my reader was broken about five months ago; however, last I saw they were not the most responsive in terms of customer service. Maybe if you bought from one of their retailers you would be better off. I also had some problems with the reader software and they were not fast in updating it.

One of my problems was that I liked to keep my entire 500 book library on the device, and every time you started it up it needed to scan the library. As a result it took a minute or so to get into reading the book. I now have the Kindle-2 and I can turn it on and be reading a book within five seconds. Not to say the K2 is perfect it has its own issues.

Even with these nits, I think the Cybook is a worthwhile reader. As is the Kindle. I would probably also check out the Astak EZreader -- you can get it from Fry's. I don't have experience with the Sony but I hear good things from those who have them. Just make the plunge and don't look back. I'm sure that every one of them has pluses and minuses. Figure out what one or two features is most important for you and make your choice based on that.
