I admit the dragon thing doesn't interest me much, and I Adblocked it to marginally speed up page-loading (sorry for reducing the pageviews, and please don't fret about this - my subjective opinion is purely an "anchovies" thing, and not any kind of judgement).

I do like your idea, and actually like with them beginning at the beginning, in a primordial "fractal" state. I see merit in your brother's comment though - eventual recognition of familiar animal (vegetable?) form would be a goal I'd like to aim at. Snails, turtles, jellyfish, stars, sea cucumbers, et cetera seem like something to allude to and still retain the "fractal" nature of their form.
