Just one more suggestion, something that has saved some delicate areas of my body from time to time. While in code view, highlight (ctrl-a) the whole page, copy it with ctrl-c, then open another instance of Sigil. Paste the copied text into the new instance, replacing the entire file, and then run mend and prettify on that instance from the tools menu. See what you end up with, and if it's close to what you want, again copy the entire page and paste it back into your original document.
