Yes there is. It looks like people are just trying and seeing if it works.
From what I gather some device downgrades result in partial bricks. Either the screen will not work properly, or the USB will only be accessible for a short amount of time. Partial bricks can be fixed though and the jailbreak will also run on them.
Full bricks can only be fixed through the serial jailbreak, or by sending the device to amazon for a replacement.
